Today i got the chance to go to the weekly BYU devotional given by the presiding bishop H. David Burton. He spoke on something that was very interesting to me. He said that these can be the best of times or the worst of times quoting the famous line from history. He also said that we decide if it the best of times or not through our attitude. Do we view life with the glass half full or half empty. This made me think about how we can look at our lives here at college. We could say that all we do all day is study and it seems like we just want to get school over with. This was my attitude in high schoo. Just get the grade and i don't care what else i get out of it.
Recently though especially here at Brigham Young University i have adopted the attitude of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the first presidency who gave a talk in priesthood session of general conferece. He said that in times of adversity its best to do two things: work and learn. He went on later to talk about learning and how he had a friend with his own desk at home where he could study and he was so jealous of that. I realized at that point that he truly loved to learn and that i could do the same. As i ahve applied this i have realized that school is almost fun now. I get excited to learn new things and therefore i wake up everyday happy to be at an institution such as BYU. Its all about attitude.
